Abbreviation for MSM - Men who have sex with Men or WSW - Women who have sex with Women.  Because sexual behavior does not always align with one’s self-perceived sexual identity, public health and other agencies studying sexual behavior have classically defined sexual expression in terms of a binary gendered system - Men and Women.  This becomes problematic (causing systematic erasure) for reporting sexual expression and behavior among those outside of a binary gender or binary male/female physiological realm.

Alternate pronouns that are gender neutral and preferred by some gender variant persons. Pronounced /zee/ and /here,/ they replace “he”/”she” and “his”/”hers” respectively.
