Education:


LGBT-Affirming Education involves educating providers about cultural competency challenges for working with sexual and gender minorities.





Ethics:


Each profession in medical and mental healthcare is monitored by a governing body that has a set of ethical standards by which practitioners should operate.  Although LGBT cultural competency issues are seldom directly addressed, issues pertaining to minorities and vulnerable populations convey a protective spirit for those who are subject to systematic or institutional discrimination.

Fag / Faggot / Fag Hag:


Derogatory term referring to someone perceived as non-heteronormative.  A term primarily used to describe women who prefer the social company of gay men. While this term is claimed in an affirmative manner by some, it is largely regarded as derogatory.





Feminism:


Feminine identified person of any gender/sex.






Femme:


Feminine identified person of any gender/sex.






Fenway Health:


Person appearing and/or identifying as neither man nor woman, presenting a gender either mixed or neutral.






FTM / MTF:


FTM / F2M - Abbreviation for female-to-male transgender or transsexual person.  See also MTF / M2F - Male-to-female transgender or transexual person.
